Latest news on  The Publican Website

Plans to abolish the Security Industry Authority (SIA) as a public body have been confirmed by the government today.

The Cabinet Office has published a list of 192 public bodies it is proposing to scrap, or bring under ministerial or local government control, being dubbed the “Bonfire of the Quangos”.

And the SIA, which regulates the private security industry, is among those on the list to be scrapped as a quango.

What does this actually mean to you !!!

Well there is no need to panic, quite simply so long as you offering  the 25 or 35ml measures of spirits you just fine, if however you only sell in volume of 50ml, then you do need to offer either a 25 or 35ml.

If your establishement only sells in 35ml measures then your ok too,  as your offer a smaller measure than a 50ml.

Wine has to be offered in 125ml as well as 175ml and 250,ml servings.

Along with half pints instead of just pints ( should be intresting how Wetherspoons will do their new 1/2 pint and & a meal deals :) )

More info and accurate info will be posted once we have a copy of the new law, which should be with us real soon. In the meantime if you do require any 25,35 or 125ml optics or thimble measures pay a visit to our online shop.
